Soil pore size distribution shaped not only compositions but also networks of the soil microbial community

چکیده

Soil pore size and arrangement control the heterogeneous distribution of nutrients, water, air and, therefore, are likely a superimposed integrated factor dictating soil microbial community structure. It is known that with more large pores can potentially harbor diverse microbes under low hydraulic connectivity. Still, there scant information on how (PSD) governs composition association community. This work examined PSD effects compositions networks via marker gene high-throughput sequencing both DNA cDNA. Three soils variation in silt content (~11–73%) their combinations at different mass ratios were used to enhance continuity thus PSD. Investigations made levels total volume connectivity by incubating varied bulk densities moisture contents for 50 days. The six was dichotomized into two groups based water retention curves, PSD-1 macro- mesopores (>30 μm) PSD-2 micropores (<30 μm). Effects treatments fungal bacterial evenness Shannon diversity index group specific, supporting importance regulating diversity. promoted proliferation Betaproteobacteria, Bacteroidetes, Eurotiales, whereas favored Alphaproteobacteria, Sordariomycetes, Chaetothyriales. Pore slightly yet significantly affected relative abundance soils, Actinobacteria being abundant drier conditions. There less intra- interkingdom associations than such differences little Our highlighted PSD-dependent distributions associations, but ecological consequences need be further examined.

Size fractionation and microbial community structure of soil aggregates

The microbial community structure in various microaggregates in a loamy sand soil was investigated. The microaggregates were separated into outer and inner aggregates using a series of soil washes. Further physical fractionation of inner aggregates was achieved by separation into coarse and fine sand as macroaggregate fractions, coarse and fine silt as microaggregate fractions, and clay. Resear...

Not Only What, but Also How Matters Introducing Procedural Utility: Not Only What, but Also How Matters

People not only care about outcomes, they also value the procedures which lead to the outcomes. Procedural utility is a potentially important source of human well-being. This paper aims at introducing the concept of procedural utility into economics, and argues that it should be incorporated more widely into economic theory and empirical research. Three building blocks of a concept of procedura...

Soil Pore Size and Geometry as a Result of Aggregate - Size Distribution and Chemical Composition

SOIL pore space and its intrinsic characteristics such as surface area, roughness, tortuosity, and connectivity are probably the most important factors controlling water and solute movement in soils. Interaggregate porosity is the result of the arrangement of the soil aggregates. These aggregates are composed of subunits, of which clay minerals and other colloids are the main components. The wa...
